I have read a couple of Ben Miller books over the past two weeks. The first book I read was "The Day I Fell into a Fairytale." This is about two children who fall into the fairytale of Sleeping Beauty. They intereact with the characters from the tale, help save sleeping beauty and then help rescue her children. I was not a fan of this book so haven't done a full review. Suffice to say, the story felt a little forced and didn't have a particularly good flow. The one below , however, which is a new release for Christmas, is a lovely fun book and I really enjoyed it.

The story is written from the perspective of a Christmas Elf, called Tog. His job normally involves making toys for Father Christmas, but after an unsuccessful attempt on Father Christmas's life by some baddies who want to steal Christmas, he has to accompany Father Christmas to the Maldives to protect him and save Christmas. Tog records the events in his diary in real time. The style is simple, funny and easy to read, and I expect most children aged 7 and up would find this a very enjoyable book. I would give this a 4/5 rating.
